SSC JE Syllabus 2026

The SSC JE Syllabus 2026 can be broadly classified into two sections—Paper 1 and Paper 2. Paper 1 consists of general papers and some elementary knowledge of engineering, while paper 2 is more in-depth into the technical subjects of the chosen branch.

  1. SSC JE Paper 1 Syllabus

Paper 1 syllabus consists of:

  • General Intelligence & Reasoning: The candidates will be asked questions on analogies, similarities and differences, classification, number series, observation, problem-solving, analytical functions, decision-making and other reasoning concepts.
  • General Awareness: It covers topics and questions related to the current affairs, Indian history, Indian culture, geography, polity & constitution, economy, general science, environmental issues, government schemes, sports, awards and other static general knowledge.
  • General Engineering: The Engineering section is attempted by candidates based on the stream opted for.
  • Some key topics of importance for Civil Engineering are: Building Materials, Surveying, Soil Mechanics, Hydraulics, Irrigation, Transportation, Environmental Engineering, RCC Design and Steel Design.
  • Basic Electrical Concepts, Circuit Laws, Magnetic Circuits, AC Fundamentals, Electrical Measurements, Electrical Machines, Power Generation and Distribution, Utilisation of Electrical Energy and Basic Electronics are the topics included in the syllabus of Electrical Engineering.
  • Theory of Machines, Machine Design, Engineering Mechanics, Strength of Materials, Thermodynamics, IC Engines, Boilers, Fluid Mechanics, Hydraulic Machines, Refrigeration and Production Engineering are important subjects for Mechanical Engineering.
  1. SSC JE Paper 2 Syllabus

The SSC JE Paper 2 syllabus is related to the technical knowledge of the engineering field opted by the candidate. It is, therefore, especially significant to prepare for the branch-specific exam for aspirants who are looking for high scores.

  • SSC JE Civil Engineering Syllabus: The main subjects are: Building Materials, Estimating and Costing, Surveying, Soil Mechanics, Hydraulics, Irrigation Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Theory of Structures, Concrete Technology, RCC Design and Steel Design.
  • SSC JE Electrical Engineering Syllabus: The major topics covered are Basic Electrical Concepts, Circuit Laws, Magnetic Circuits, AC Fundamentals, Electrical Measurements, Electrical Machines, Generation, Transmission and Distribution, Utilisation of Electrical Energy and related electrical topics.
  • SSC JE Mechanical Engineering Syllabus: Mechanical Engineering students have to study the topics like theory of machines, machine design, engineering mechanics, strength of materials, thermodynamics, IC engines, rankine cycle, boilers, refrigeration, fluid mechanics, hydraulic machines and production engineering.

How to Prepare for SSC JE 2026?

To start their preparation, aspirants need to know the entire syllabus of SSC JE and split the subjects into study goals. The technical subjects should be given constant attention, as all of Paper 2 is based on engineering knowledge.

The candidates should also refer to SSC JE previous year question papers, solve numerical problems and regularly take model tests. Short notes on formulas, concepts and frequently used topics can help revision to be more effective.

It is the same with the candidates who are preparing from SSC JE books on their own, selecting the right books is also essential. Engineering aspirants can find exam oriented books and study materials with EA publications which provide them with a structured theory and objective practice to supplement their preparation.
